Adult League Rules

Absolutely NO fighting will be tolerated in the facility.

Alcohol / Drugs / Tobacco will not be permitted inside the facility at any time.  No exceptions.

No spitting on the turf. Players will be warned and then issued a yellow card.

No drinking in the parking lot before or after a match. We share our parking lot with a school, please be respectful.

  • Teams are comprised on 5 field players and one keeper (6v6 format)
    • Co-Ed teams are required to have at least 2 women on the field at all times.
    • One women required if team is playing with less than 5 players. 
  • Each match will start with a kick off in the center circle.  The ball is allowed to go backward or forward on the kick off. A goal may not be scored directly from the kick-off.
  • The pitch dimensions are 27 x 46 yards.  The circle arc is the only designated area the goalie can use their hands.  Penalty kicks are taken from the yellow dot at the top of the arc.
  • Each game is 40 minutes (2x20 minute halves w/ 5-minute halftime).  There is no overtime or stoppage time.
  • Team jersey will be designated at the initial sign up of the league.  Team will be given a color and be required to wear that color to each game.
  • There is no off-sides
  • ABSOLUTELY NO slide tackles of any kind
  • Play will be ruled dead if the ball comes into contact with; the ceiling, the lights, the girders surrounding the playing field. Play resumes with an indirect kick or kick-in. 
  • Subs are on the fly.  Player entering the field can only do so after the other player has exited the field.
  • Teams can only substitute the goal keeper when there is a stoppage in play. 
  • Kick ins are taken when ball has gone out of bounds on the sidelines.  The kicker cannot play the ball again until another player has touched it.  Players cannot score from the kick-in.  Opposing team must be 2 yards away from the position of the kick.
  • If a team is up by 5+ goals, the opposing team can add a player.  If the team is up 10+ they must remove a player as well as the opposing team can add a player (7v5)
  • Players are allowed to wear turf shoes or cleats while playing.  Each player is required to wear shin guards.
  • Time-out
    • The teams are entitled to a one-minute time-out in each period.
    • The timekeeper grants the time-out when the team that has requested it is

 in possession of the ball and the ball is out of play,

  • Infringements and Fouls:
  • Fouls penalized by a direct kick:
  • Kicks or an attempt to kick opponent
  • Tripping
  • Charging opponent
  • Strikes or attempts to strike
  • Pushes an opponent
  • Tackles an opponent
  • Handles the ball
  • Or any other offenses that are not permitted by the referee
  • Fouls penalized with a penalty kick:
  • A penalty kick is awarded if any of the above ten offences are committed by a player inside his own penalty area, irrespective of the position of the ball, provided it is in play.
  • Fouls penalized with an indirect free kick:
  • An indirect free kick is awarded to the opposing team if a goalkeeper commits any of the following four offences:
    • Controls the ball with his hands or feet in his own half of the pitch for more than four seconds
    • After playing the ball, he touches it again in his own half of the pitch after it has been deliberately played to him by a team-mate without an opponent playing or touching it
    • Touches the ball with his hands inside his own penalty area after it has been deliberately kicked to him by a teammate
    • Touches the ball with his hands inside his own penalty area after he has received it directly from a kick-in by a team-mate, an indirect free kick is also awarded to the opposing team if, in the opinion of the referees, a player:
    •  Plays in a dangerous manner in the presence of an opponent
    • Impedes the progress of an opponent
    • Prevents the goalkeeper from releasing the ball from his hands
    • Commits against a teammate one of the nine offences penalized with a direct free kick if they are committed against an opponent
    • Commits any other infringement not previously mentioned in Law 12 or in any other Law, for which play is stopped to caution or dismiss a player

Misconduct

  • Misconduct is penalized with a caution or a sending-off. Disciplinary sanctions.  The yellow card is used to communicate that a player or substitute has been cautioned. The red card is used to communicate that a player or substitute has been sent off. Only a player or substitute may be shown the red or yellow card. The relevant card is only shown publicly on the pitch if the match has started. In other cases, the referees verbally inform the players and team officials of the disciplinary sanction taken. The referees have the authority to take disciplinary sanctions from the moment they enter the premises where the pitch is located before the start of the match until they leave them. A player who commits a cautionable or sending-off offence, either on or off the pitch, whether directed towards an opponent, a teammate, the referees or any other person, is disciplined according to the nature of the offence committed.
  • Cautionable offences A player is cautioned if he commits any of the following seven offences:
    • Unsporting behavior
    • Dissent by word or action
    • Delaying the restart of play
  • A substitute is cautioned if he commits any of the following four infringements:
    • Unsporting behavior
    • Dissent by word or action
    • Delaying the restart of play
    • Entering the pitch in contravention of the substitution procedure

Sending-off offenses

  • Serious foul play
  • Violent conduct
  • Spitting at an opponent or any other person
  • Denying the opposing team, a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
  • Denying an obvious goal-scoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offense punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
  • Using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
  • Receiving a second caution in the same match

A player or substitute who has been sent off must leave the vicinity of the pitch and the technical area.  Player must leave facility within 2 minutes of being sent off.

  • Penalty-kick infringements
    • If both teams encroach into the penalty area when a penalty kick is to take place, a re-do will ensue.
    • If the attacking team encroaches into the penalty area before the kick takes place, the defending team will be awarded an indirect free kick. 
  • Bench Interference
    • If any team members, coaches, or persons associated with your bench interfere with the game or officials, a warning shall be issued.  If any other interference is witnessed a goal or point shall be deducted per interference.
  • Spectator Interference
    • Each team will receive one warning before spectators will be asked to leave.  If asked to leave, the spectator will be given 2 minutes to exit the premises. 
  • Blue cards
    • A blue card shall be issued to any player/s for unsportsmanlike behavior.  A player from the same team may re-enter the game if the opposing team scores while the pnealty is being served.   
  • The Kick-in
    • A kick-in is a method of restarting play.
    • A kick-in is awarded to the opponents of the player who last touches the ball when the whole of the ball crosses the touch line, either on the ground or in the air, or touches the ceiling or lights.
  • A goal may not be scored directly from a kick-in.
  • The opponents must be:
  • on the pitch
  • at a distance of no less than 5m from the place on the touch line where the kick-in is taken.

              Position of kick-in

At the moment of delivering the ball, the kicker:

  • has one foot on the touch line or on the ground outside the pitch
  • kicks the ball, which must be stationary, either from the point where it left the pitch or on the ground outside it at a distance no greater than 25cm from that point
  • delivers the ball within four seconds of being ready to do so
  • The ball in is play when it enters the pitch.
